* Please note that this is a company outside of RRISD and they do not offer refunds as it states on their homepage. CeVMS will not offer refunds as the funds are paid directly to Gandy Ink and not to Cedar Valley.

** All forms are required in order to participate on the Cedar Valley Football Team. Football equipment will NOT be issued to players who have NOT completed all required forms. Players who fail to complete all action items by the deadlines will be removed from the Cedar Valley Athletics class for the 2024-25 school year

7th & 8th grade soccer tryouts will be April 1-2, 2024

7th & 8th grade soccer tryouts will be April 1-2, 2024, after school from 3:45-5:30 PM. To be considered for the team, athletes must attend both days of tryouts. All athletes must sign up to tryout via the google form below, and have a physical on file with the coaching staff along with all RankOne online forms completed: Links for completing all required forms are below.

7th Grade Boys Highlights

• Isaiah Ore - 7th Grade Boy top point scorer and 1st place overall top point scorer of all divisions in the meet with 37 Individual points.
• Isaiah Ore- New Long Jump Record with a jump of 18'-10” (old record was 18'-6.5”).

8th Grade Boys Highlights

• Isaiah Cook- 8th Grade Boy 2nd place overall point scorer with 27 individual points.
• Leo Brasil- Broke his own district record from last week in the 2400m run with a new district record time of 7:26.88

The track teams both competed well Thursday night against Ridgeview and Deerpark finishing second in both divisions. The results are below. Leo Brasil broke the RRISD record in both the 1600M ( 4:42.59 ) & the 24 00M ( 7:28.12 . )

Congratulations to the 8th grade B-team. They finished as district champions in their division with a district record of 7-1.

To make the track team, you need to qualify for an event. The events are listed below. You can tryout for as many events as you want to.

• Hurdles (100m & 300m)
• Jumps (High, Long, & Triple)
• Throws (Shotput & Discus)

The last district games for the boys basketball teams are on Monday , Febru ary 5th versus Person Ranch - 7 th grade is home & 8 th grade is at PR MS. The A -team tournament game are on Saturday 2/3 at Canyon Vista M.S. The game for 7A is at approximately 10 : 30 versus Ridgeview and the 8A follows at 11:45 versus Canyon Vista. The next dist rict games for the boys basketball teams are on Wednes day, January 31st versus Deerpark - 8 th grade is home & 7 th grade is at D MS. The B-team tournaments start for both B-teams on this Saturday at Walsh M.S. The game for 8B is at 9:15 while the 7B game is at 10:30. The A-team tournament brackets for next week will be determined shortly.

The Jaguar B-teams were seeded high enough to play next Saturday (1/27) instead of the play-in game on Thursday. The 8B team plays at 9:15 am and the 7B team follows them in the 10:30 am game. All Saturday games for both levels are at Walsh M. S.

The B-team tournaments are next week on Thursday and/or Saturday. These tournaments are with the four other "big" schools and are seeded according to the the current records. The boys basketball teams next play on Wednesday, November 11th versus Ridgeview - 8th grade is home & 7th grade is at RMS.

The Jaguars won both of their A-team games against the Pearson Ranch Rattlers to finish their seasons. Since the Rattlers didn't have B-teams for 7th grade or 8th grade, the B-teams finished their seasons last week.

• The 7B Jaguars finished their season last week with a season record of 7-0 -- District Champions.

• 7th graders tryout before school from 7am-8:15am.
• 8th Graders tryout afterschool from 3:45pm-5pm.
• Requirements: All must have turned in a athletic physical to the Coaching staff and complete the tryout google from in order to be eligible for tryouts

If you do have a pair of Basketball shoes, please bring them, however we do not want any parents purchasing new Basketball shoes just for tryouts. You will need to bring your own water bottle as well. No outside Basketballs are allowed or needed as we have plenty that will be provided by the Athletic department for tryouts. Any type of Athletic clothing is acceptable for tryouts, however if you have a Cedar Valley Athletics or PE shirt which has your name on it, that is prefered so that Coaches can identify you more easily.

Please be on time, and enter the school building through the doors nearest the Athletic Hallway and Concession Stand. Due to district safety guidelines, we only allow players trying out and Coaches in the gyms during tryouts. No guardians are allowed inside the school building during tryouts.

Picture day for football players is next week (bye week.) Seventh graders will take pictures on Tuesday while 8th graders will go on Wednesday. Picture forms were sent home on Thursday (9/21.) Pictures are optional, but, if you want to purchase individual picture of you athlete, send the completed form on the appropriate day.

Leo Brazil broke the school 14 ecord for cross cou nt ry on Wednesday 9/13 at the Walsh Invitational. His time was 10:57, Congratulations Leo!!

Practices start SATURDAY, August 19th. Football players are encouraged to run if interested. One practice a week and 4 practice meets with 1 district meet.

Practices/meetings start Aug. 19th at 8am on the Cedar Valley Track. Enter on Cornerwood gate, nearest to the scoreboard. Bring your own water please!
